Looks like the gold layer on my vermeil jewelry is wearing off.

Gold vermeil is 14k gold layered over sterling silver. Over time and with normal wear—especially when exposed to water, lotions, perfumes, or frequent touching—the gold layer can naturally fade. This is a normal part of how vermeil jewelry wears.
